The Mount Hospital

Questions

Does the use of reduced saturation change the mood of the photograph? If so, in what way?

How does the composition of this photograph reflect the Theme of Urban Decay?

What does the viewpoint of this photograph suggest?

  1. I think the arial shot of the roof is great and really brings out the theme of urban decay. I think that this photograph would look better in colour because you can see the decay better.

  2. By changing the colour scheme to black&white the blemishes in the wood are enhanced which in turn enhances the feel of decay in the photo.

  3. 1.) the colours used in this photograph are alot diffrent to the others and therefore its alot clearer what particular things are. using alot of natural lightimng this shows the lighting at the time the photographs were taken.
2.) this photograph shows 'urban decay' as it shows alot of decay not only on the building itself but on tghe b roof with other objects.
3.) the viewpoint allows the viewer to see all the aspects on the top of the roof.

  4. I think this photograph doesnt look as old as the previous two, based on the fact the images are in colour, not black and white. I think the black and white images worked better, however this is still a successful shot.

  5. I don't think the use of reduced saturation allows you to look at anything in particular. It feels almost flat.
I like how you've captured everything that is decaying within the photograph, however, I don't feel a part of this photograph, compared to the others.
The viewpoint suggests to me neglect.
