  1. I like the fact that I can look down the gap and see the decaying building. I like the fact it's in black and white as it makes the photograph moodier.

  2. The lighting in this photo, to me, enhances this feel of decay. Perhaps because of the contrast between the light and dark tones, but the majority of the wood seems bleached by the sun. it becomes easy to imagine them having being long abandoned and left to weather.

  3. 1.) the lighting in this photograph has highlighted areas yet darkened others. it has highlighted the outerside but has created a strong dark shadowing over the opening which is pitch black inside.
2.) the black and white shows alot within this particular photograph. however using a colour this woukld show more damage to the building however using black and white shows the highlighting and shadowing and overal appears more effective.

  4. 1) I believe that the ambient lighting effects the natural lighting because it gives very natural and netural tones to the wooden floor and surroundings
    2) the black and white does change the mood because it adds to the depth of the toaning in the wood which then adds to the detail and highlights the decaying rotten wood
    3) I believe that the compositon of the photograph adds to the ambiance of the photograph by creating a lot of dark block colour in the centre

  5. I think the use of ambient lighting makes the photo look less spooky than it could do if you had chosen to photograph it when it is darker.
Again, like the last photogrph I think the use of black and white colours makes the photo look eerie like it is a still from an old black and white horror movie.
I think the composition reflects the theme of urban decay as all of the building in the photograph is decayed.

  6. I like the use of ambient lighting as it creates a lighter atmostphere - the image doesnt appear as spooky, yet you are still able to understand the decaying element. The use of black and white helps to enhance the contrast making the piece more interesting. I really like the compostition in this piece as at first it isnt clear what you are looking at - I think this is what urban decay should be about; adding an unusual element/angles.

  7. Ambient lighting has given great depth to the photograph giving you a chance to look- just slightly- at what could be lying below.
The use of black and white editing has brought out all the defects in the woodwork on the roof top which I feel adds to the mood of the photograph as you are almost there looking through.
I think the photographer has captured Urban Decay in its raw by making you seem as if you are there. The use of cropping has helped as it makes me feel as if I'm looking through the gap in the celing.

The sun makes an eerie shadow and no lighting in the hospital.
The black and wight makes it feel old and abandond and quite scary.
